About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide mission-critical support at the Hanford Site through senior-level nuclear safety consulting in program and project management
- Perform criticality safety consulting for One Hanford Program needs, focusing on special activities and identified problem areas
- Support criticality safety needs through direct observation and involvement in relevant activities as determined by the Technical Monitor
- Review contractor reports and submittals for compliance with One Hanford procedures and DOE-STD-3009, DOE-STD-3007, DOE-STD-1104 and 10 CFR 830
- Conduct periodic oversight of criticality-related operations performed by One Hanford projects
- Assist in preparing safety evaluation reports and other approval documentation
- Assist with readiness and startup assessment activities
- Review Documented Safety Analysis safety management programs and evaluate supporting documents
- Complete deliverables in accordance with One Hanford procedures and Technical Monitor directions
- Perform all work in compliance with the Quality Assurance Implementation Plan DOE-PPD-QA-50552 and associated procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- US citizenship required
- BS/BA degree in engineering, science or related field
- Experience consulting or contributing on complex projects, including providing strategic, management or technical assistance to significant projects or programs in a senior capacity and/or as a consultant
- Specialized knowledge of criticality safety and implementing ANSI/ANS-8 Standards
- Experience working at a senior level to improve major projects and programs
- Experience consulting or contributing to organizational or technical issues and assisting in problem solving
- Successful experience in technical or management roles
- Proven skills in developing plans that yield positive organizational improvements
- Expert level knowledge of criticality and nuclear safety related controls and requirements
- Working level knowledge of HFO mission, activities and priorities
- Working level knowledge of DOE program and project management practices, policies and procedures
- Excellent communications skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and/or other Microsoft Office tools
- Preferred: senior level knowledge of nuclear safety with more than 20 years of experience
- Preferred: expert level knowledge of criticality safety with more than 10 years of experience
- Preferred: working level knowledge of environmental, worker safety and health, quality assurance and related controls and requirements
