About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Senior Communications Manager in developing annual communications work plans for Audubon’s South Carolina team
  • Implement day-to-day communications activities and help broaden Audubon’s visibility and reach
  • Gather stories of conservation and policy work and produce storytelling for newsletters, blogs, social media, and promotional materials
  • Produce or manage video and photo coverage of programs
  • Secure local earned media for Audubon’s initiatives in South Carolina
  • Manage media lists and develop relationships with reporters
  • Support outreach and advocacy campaigns using EveryAction and Mobilize
  • Coordinate, execute, and document special and annual events, including outreach and media coverage
  • Track metrics and analytics across earned media, social media, and website channels
  • Develop regular reports highlighting trends
  • Prepare materials for community and campus chapters
  • Support public funding efforts
  • Maintain and foster a culture of safety
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in journalism, communications, marketing, political science, environmental studies or another relevant area
  • 1-2 years of professional experience with public relations, brand management, writing, editing, campaign organizing, project management and/or advocacy preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholder groups across a decentralized organization
  • Excellent English language writing skills, spelling, and grammar
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to learn online communications tools easily
  • Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to and experience in advancing inclusion and belonging
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, EveryAction, Mobilize or similar email management systems
  • Must be willing to travel and work some evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must have reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license
