About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver excellent and relevant academic advisement, information, and services to technical college students
- Advise students on academic requirements and course selection
- Assist students in developing and personalizing education plans
- Disseminate institutional policies and procedures
- Review and interpret placement and standardized test scores, unofficial transcripts, and course prerequisites
- Apply the institution's interpretation of FERPA rules for releasing student information
- Interpret degree audits and graduation requirements
- Monitor registration activities and recommend solutions to academic difficulties
- Coordinate communications regarding advisement, academic calendars, and related issues
- Maintain accurate electronic records of student interactions
- Serve as a student advocate and refer students to specialized staff
- Develop, implement, review, present, and revise student orientations
- Stay current on institutional information, admissions requirements, programs, courses, deadlines, costs, facilities, initiatives, transfer requirements, and mandates
- Participate in professional development and academic advisement program planning and evaluation
- Participate in student development and retention programs
- Serve as a resource for faculty and staff
- Assist with advising materials and presentations
- Complete administrative reports
- Enter program schedules in Banner
- Assist Deans with collecting faculty documentation
- Perform other duties assigned by the Academic Advisement Coordinator
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of an Associate's degree in general studies, business, management, education, or related area
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Two (2) years of related work experience
- Knowledge of academic requirements, course selection, education planning, institutional policies and procedures, placement tests, transcripts, course prerequisites, FERPA rules, degree audits, and graduation requirements
- Information technology skills
- Ability to enter program schedules in Banner
- Ability to collect documentation from faculty
