About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Instruct, manage, and supervise individuals and groups in classrooms, laboratories, and clinicals using appropriate teaching methods
- Prepare lesson plans for dental hygiene courses
- Develop and coordinate curriculum and conduct course assessments
- Evaluate course effectiveness using student data, graduate surveys, and employer surveys
- Evaluate instruction and learning through testing and evaluation methods
- Maintain and submit accurate student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up records
- Coordinate cooperative work experience programs and assigned students
- Assist with reports and information requests from internal and external departments and agencies
- Ensure compliance with dental hygiene accreditation standards
- Attend and assist with coordinating the dental hygiene advisory committee
- Participate in college committees and meetings
- Collaborate with colleagues on common curriculum areas
- Develop program syllabi, goals, and objectives
- Maintain safe laboratory and clinical conditions
- Maintain current knowledge through staff development training, workshops, seminars, conferences, and professional publications
- Follow Savannah Technical College policies and procedures
- Communicate professionally with college employees, students, and visitors
- Assist department head, program coordinator, faculty, and staff in maintaining an effective program
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene or related field from an accredited, post-secondary institution
- Current knowledge of the specific subjects of the appointed teaching assignments
- Dental hygienists or dentists must be graduates of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and hold a current unencumbered State of Georgia dental or dental hygiene license
- Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Candidates must pass a criminal background check
- Applicants must submit an electronic application through Team Georgia Careers and attach a cover letter and resume
- All male applicants between ages 18 and 26 must present proof of Selective Service Registration
