About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide theory and practical instruction for the Paramedic program
  • Teach didactic and clinical courses as assigned

  • Deliver lectures and provide student advisement and registration
  • Work flexible or split teaching shifts
  • Travel regularly between Savannah Technical College campus locations, including Savannah and Hinesville
  • Demonstrate appropriate teaching techniques, testing, and grading procedures
  • Maintain grade books and required records
  • Follow the approved course syllabus
  • Monitor students’ use of supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Ensure safety and security requirements in the training area
  • Attend required meetings
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and developments in paramedicine
  • Follow Technical College System of Georgia and Savannah Technical College policies
  • Perform assignments required by accreditation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of one (1) year documented teaching experience, consisting of at least forty (40) hours of instruction per year in a paramedic course
  • Currently certified (NREMT) as a Paramedic
  • Currently licensed as a Georgia Paramedic
  • Level III EMS Instructor License
  • Two years’ work experience within the last 3 years as a paramedic and/or teaching
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support Instructor certification
  • Valid driver’s license and required insurability
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email
  • Knowledge and application of online learning platforms such as Blackboard
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Male applicants aged 18–26 must provide proof of Selective Service Registration
  • May be required to submit a valid driver’s license, proof of insurability, and/or driver’s history report for positions involving state travel
