About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide instruction in a comprehensive contemporary program of research-based education for students interested in agricultural sciences
  • Teach agricultural research, biotechnology, and science topics, including environmental science, agricultural research, biotechnology, soils, hydrology, forestry, natural resources, chemistry, biology, and physics
  • Model courses on research and analysis opportunities in agricultural sciences in a university setting
  • Provide laboratory and research project experiences similar to sophomore/junior-level college courses
  • Teach a major discipline Monday–Saturday and an elective area Monday–Friday
  • Attend paid staff orientation and training sessions before the summer program
  • Collaborate with discipline-specific department staff on an ongoing basis
  • Participate in outside-of-class activities when directed
  • Complete other tasks related to the Governor’s Honors Program
  • Attend virtual training for new and returning faculty
  • Prepare unit plans and/or a syllabus and course overviews
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Minimum of three years successful teaching experience in the specific content area at the college or secondary level
  • Experience teaching gifted education classes, Advanced Placement, or honors courses OR comparable experience teaching high school age students in a private or out-of-school environment within the applicant’s field of expertise
  • Significant experience teaching gifted secondary learners preferred
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Proven ability to provide a challenging and differentiated instructional experience to diverse learners
  • Proven ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to participate in coaching and professional growth opportunities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of professional integrity
  • Ability to prepare rigorous and engaging unit plans, syllabi, and course overviews
  • Ability to maintain accurate attendance records
