About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Utilize current curriculum, instructional materials, and online platforms to teach and manage state-approved Cosmetology curricula
Prepare course lesson plans and develop and post accurate course syllabi and gradebooks
Evaluate and support student progress toward goals and objectives
Maintain required program certification requirements
Prepare, maintain, and submit required documentation and administrative reports
Pursue professional development through staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences
Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area
Maintain instructional supplies and equipment
Collaborate with college faculty and staff to maintain a positive learning environment focused on student achievement, graduation, and placement
Foster relationships with industry and community stakeholders, including regional high school systems, to promote program growth and enrollment
Advise assigned students with a focus on retention, graduation, and placement
Train and supervise adjunct instructors or lab assistants as needed
Adhere to Technical College System of Georgia and Savannah Technical College policies and procedures
Teach lectures, provide student advisement and registration, and work split teaching shifts between campus locations as required
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Diploma in Cosmetology
Current Georgia Master Cosmetology license in good standing
At least 5 years of paid, in-field experience within the last 7 years
Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and Saturdays
Ability to work at any campus location in the Savannah Technical College service-delivery area
Preferred: At least 5 years of full-time Cosmetology instructor experience in the technical college system within the last 7 years
Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university is a plus
Must pass a criminal background check
Must submit a completed Savannah Technical College Employment Application, cover letter, and resume
Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for assigned courses
Male applicants aged 18–26 must present proof of Selective Service Registration
