About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide counseling and support services for gifted and talented high school students
  • Provide initial assessments and individual and group counseling
  • Provide crisis intervention and on-call coverage as needed
  • Provide instruction in an elective area Monday–Friday
  • Prepare unit plans and/or a syllabus and course overviews
  • Maintain accurate attendance records
  • Participate in a 24/7 rotational call schedule for the duration of the program
  • Attend paid virtual training for new and returning staff
  • Attend staff orientation before the summer program
  • Collaborate with discipline-specific department staff
  • Participate in outside-of-class activities when directed
  • Complete other assigned Governor’s Honors Program tasks

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; OR
  • Master’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and three years directly related experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and five years directly related experience
  • Directly related experience in case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, clinical psycho-social therapy, and treatment planning
  • Significant experience counseling gifted secondary learners preferred
  • Ability to provide challenging and differentiated instruction to diverse learners preferred
  • Excellent organization, written, and verbal communication skills preferred
  • High level of professional integrity preferred
  • Ability to participate in coaching and professional growth opportunities preferred
