About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide comprehensive assessment interviews, career guidance, individual employment plans, labor market information, and staff-assisted job search activities
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate job-readiness and job-search-technique workshops and presentations
- Demonstrate the use of job listings to help clients explore training and employment opportunities
- Identify and evaluate barriers and facilitate or refer customers to appropriate supportive services
- Counsel applicants to identify abilities, needs, interests, and values in relation to job opportunities and career goals
- Use assessments and evaluation tools for career development and assessment services
- Match applicants' skill sets to vacancies and provide job matches or referrals
- Conduct outreach with local veteran and community-based organizations and educational institutions
- Travel to remote locations to provide direct assistance to veteran customers
- Consult and coordinate with federal, state, and local programs and employers to promote job opportunities, training, apprenticeships, and vocational counseling services for veterans
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a qualified, eligible veteran
- DD-214 is required
- Applicants must provide proof of being a qualified veteran
- Disability Rating Certificate from the Veterans Administration, if applicable, dated within six months from the date of applying
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; OR Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two years of related experience; OR four years of related experience; OR two years of experience at the lower-level Employment Services Specialist or equivalent position
- Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA), Wagner-Peyser Act, or Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) program
- Two years of experience serving special needs populations with Significant Barriers to Employment
- Two years of experience delivering Case Management services
- Experience delivering Employment Services
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Experience delivering group presentations
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations
- Time and task management skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to adapt to job-related software programs
- Organizational skills
- Project management skills
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Interpersonal relations and customer service skills
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
