About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Tele-work as a field psychologist in various parts of Georgia for the Office of Forensic Services
- Float within assigned sections of the state
- Assist outpatient evaluation teams and inpatient forensic hospitals in completing forensic evaluations
- Complete face-to-face forensic mental health evaluations for competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and violence risk
- Prepare forensic reports
- Provide expert testimony
- Collect and analyze data
- Supervise others
- Complete juvenile forensic evaluations, including competency and waiver evaluations, as assigned
- Travel regularly to various areas of Georgia
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited college or university
- Current Georgia license to practice psychology; license may be temporary, provisional, or permanent
- One year of experience at the lower-level Psychologist 1 (HCP140) or equivalent
- Knowledge of abnormal psychology, developmental psychology, pertinent statutes and case law related to forensic psychology, malingering assessment tools, intellectual testing, personality assessment, mental health treatment best practices, and ethical/professional guidelines
- Completion of the state’s Competency to Stand Trial Certification process within one year of hire is required for continued employment
- National and state background check as a condition of employment
- Licenses must be current and enable providers to practice within the State of Georgia
- May require drug screening, TB evaluation, and annual influenza vaccination
- One year of experience working as an inpatient psychologist (preferred)
- Completion of a predoctoral internship or postdoctoral fellowship focused on criminal forensic psychology (preferred)
- Five years of post-licensure experience conducting competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility evaluations (preferred)
- Experience testifying in criminal forensic mental health matters on at least 10 occasions (preferred)
- Experience completing at least five violence risk assessments using the HCR-20 and PCL-R (preferred)
- Experience supervising psychology graduate students, predoctoral interns, postdoctoral fellows, or licensed psychologists (preferred)
