About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform law enforcement duties within an educational setting
  • Pick up students from their homes, wand students, and check temperatures before van entry
  • Screen students entering secure educational areas using pat-down searches or approved procedures
  • Patrol classrooms, hallways, and school grounds
  • Monitor student movement during arrival, transitions, lunch, and dismissal
  • Address disruptive behavior and intervene to maintain safety and security
  • Facilitate safety drills, emergency preparedness exercises, lockdowns, evacuations, and emergency response activities
  • Inspect classrooms and common areas for contraband, security breaches, and safety hazards
  • Monitor security cameras and equipment and report deficiencies
  • Respond to emergencies, disturbances, medical incidents, and criminal activity at school
  • Collaborate with teachers, probation staff, and DJJ personnel to improve student safety and behavior
  • Build positive student relationships through mentoring, counseling, conflict resolution, and educational presentations
  • Maintain daily logs, reports, and documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of Georgia Basic Law Enforcement Training / P.O.S.T. Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training
  • Current Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification or ability to obtain certification as required by law
  • Valid Georgia driver's license
  • Ability to meet agency-established physical agility standards and potentially complete a validated physical agility assessment
  • Ability to stand, walk, and respond rapidly during emergency situations
  • Subject to criminal background investigation, reference checks, drug screening, and additional pre-employment requirements
  • Employment contingent upon maintaining Georgia POST certification and meeting all agency standards
