About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses
- Prepare standardized course syllabi using the provided template
- Evaluate students’ progress based on established course grading requirements
- Prepare and maintain required documentation and administrative reports
- Attend professional development training as required for classroom or online course delivery
- Teach Sociology courses in classroom, lab, field, or distance-learning environments
- Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in Sociology
- Provide instruction in the theory and practical applications of Sociology
- Measure program or departmental student learning outcomes and submit results to the department chair
- Potentially teach day, evening, and distance-learning classes and activities
- Work on term-by-term teaching assignments, potentially in fall, spring, and summer
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s Degree in Sociology or Master’s degree in a related discipline with 18 hours in the teaching discipline from an accredited institution
- Valid Driver’s License
- Strong computer skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population
- Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned
- Unofficial transcripts, resume, and proof of applicable certifications/licensure are required for consideration
- Official transcripts and prior employment verification are required within 30 days of hire for continuous employment
