Key responsibilities & impact
  • Present instruction in the theory and practical applications of Welding and Joining Technology
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in Welding and Joining Technology
  • Teach courses in classroom and lab environments simulating industry conditions
  • Instruct face-to-face, blended, on-campus, and mobile lab courses as needed
  • Prepare customized training plans for corporate or community customers
  • Assess student progress and grade coursework according to established requirements and industry standards
  • Use current technology in classroom and lab settings
  • Meet with students, staff, and educators regarding instructional programs and other issues
  • Maintain program certification and accreditation requirements
  • Attend professional development training as required for specific course delivery
  • Ensure safety and security requirements in the Welding and Joining Technology program
  • Support faculty in keeping equipment operational
  • Ensure students follow equipment and tool safety rules
  • Keep classrooms and work areas clean and maintained
  • Complete related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Diploma in Welding and Joining Technology or related diploma/degree from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of experience in welding and joining
  • Must be able to pass the AWS welding test; some locations require an additional pipe welding test
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy appropriate accrediting bodies for assigned courses
  • Unofficial transcripts from all accredited institutions, proof of industry certifications, and a detailed resume required for application
  • Background check required upon employment offer
  • Ability to work morning, afternoon, or evening hours
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds
