About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Inspect and test the accuracy of high-speed fuel meters, truck meters, loading rack meters, CNG meters, milk meters, and associated devices
  • Thoroughly examine dispensing devices to ensure established standards are met
  • Test and verify meter calibration
  • Verify fuel dispenser accuracy using monetary and volumetric indicators according to established procedures
  • Respond promptly to complaints
  • Investigate consumer complaints concerning pumping-device accuracy and prepare documentation
  • Attend meetings and training seminars
  • Interact with all levels of the Department to promote respect, cooperation, and excellent performance
  • Maintain the State vehicle and job-related equipment
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Travel overnight occasionally

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must be able to back trailer
  • Must have communication and customer service skills
  • Maintain State vehicle and all equipment related to the job
  • Be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • General knowledge of window operating systems and basic computer skills
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in the area of assignment; or two (2) years of college, which included 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life sciences and two (2) years of experience in a directly job-related area; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Agriculture Inspector 2 (RCT041) or position equivalent
  • Selected applicants must reside or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance of assigned territory
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and perform intermittent walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. for short periods of time
  • Final hiring is contingent upon satisfactory employment verification, background, criminal records investigations, and motor vehicle reports
