About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and improve customer-facing experiences across Auror’s Risk Detection capabilities, including Auror Subject Recognition (ASR)
  • Use React and TypeScript to create intuitive, accessible, and responsive product experiences
  • Work with Product and Design to understand customer problems
  • Participate in discovery and technical discussions
  • Own well-defined product and technical problems from development through production
  • Break work into manageable increments and deliver changes safely and consistently
  • Write maintainable, well-tested code
  • Investigate bugs and production issues, identify root causes, and prevent recurrence
  • Build understanding of frontend interactions with APIs, services, and data
  • Contribute to C#/.NET backend services where required
  • Work with frontend, backend, edge, and platform engineers across the wider architecture
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, pairing, and team engineering practices
  • Write automated tests and maintain software quality
  • Consider observability, performance, security, privacy, and maintainability in implementation decisions
  • Use AI and LLM-based tools for development, testing, debugging, and learning
  • Contribute to monitoring, observability, operational readiness, and incident response
  • Follow privacy-conscious engineering practices when working with biometric or sensitive information
  • Share knowledge and support a collaborative coaching culture

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Frontend engineering experience with React and TypeScript or similar technologies
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including software design, testing, debugging, and development practices
  • Experience or comfort working with APIs and backend concepts
  • Interest in developing full-stack capability; experience with C#, .NET, or similar backend technologies is useful but not essential
  • Ability to independently deliver well-scoped work and ask for help when needed
  • Commitment to usability, accessibility, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners
  • Ability to explain technical thinking and concepts clearly
  • Curiosity and willingness to continue developing technical and product judgement
  • Interest in AI and LLM-assisted engineering tools
  • Alignment with Auror’s Guiding Principles
  • Candidates must currently reside in Auckland or be willing to relocate
  • Applicants must indicate Australian/New Zealand work eligibility
