About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform clerical duties, including operating a computer, maintaining records and files, and compiling data and reports
- Maintain an inventory of supplies and materials
- Operate, install, and maintain equipment
- Set up, configure, and/or calibrate new equipment as needed
- Perform routine maintenance and repair as needed
- Assist or monitor students, faculty, and staff in using equipment or facilities
- Work safely, follow safety rules, and report unsafe conditions and behavior
- Report violations under Title IX and the Clery Act if designated as a Campus Security Authority
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or educational equivalent
- Physics lab experience, usually as a student in a physics class
- Knowledge of office administration and bookkeeping principles and practices
- Knowledge of physics and safety principles and practices relevant to the assignment
- Organizational and planning skills
- Ability to work effectively with a multicultural student body
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to understand and follow instructions precisely
- Ability to handle lab materials precisely and accurately
- Ability to maintain an established work schedule
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software
- Ability to use related laboratory software applications
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Employees must maintain a domicile in the State of Texas throughout employment
