About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Interpret and apply legislation and powers under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) to support immigration compliance
- Perform, under supervisor direction, the role of delegate under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth)
- Exercise statutory powers enabling the officer and team to detain non-citizens
- Communicate effectively in an operational environment
- Lead small field operation and warrant teams during enforcement activity
- Manage a caseload of persons of interest in the community and criminal justice system
- Monitor and enforce visa-condition compliance, employer and labour-hire intermediary obligations, and migrant-worker sponsorship requirements
- Undertake standing and responsive operations and regulatory activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Australian citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance
- ABF Workers must obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC)
- Home Affairs Workers must obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check; in some circumstances, an ESC may be required instead or additionally
- Ability to work outside standard hours or provide on-call services
- Ability to undertake domestic travel for long periods
- Ability to contribute to high-performing teams in a complex legislative environment and high-pressure situations
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in sensitive situations
- Ability to apply critical thinking to complex problems in compressed timeframes
- Demonstrated understanding of Command, Control and Coordination (C3) framework and operational planning
- Demonstrated proficiency, or ability to develop proficiency, with CCMD, ICSE and CRIMS
- Some positions may require holding or obtaining a Use of Force permit
