About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Interpret and apply legislation and powers under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) to support immigration compliance
- Conduct desktop investigations into non-compliance with the Migration Act
- Manage a caseload of persons of interest within the community and criminal justice system
- Under supervisor direction, exercise delegations and statutory powers to detain UNCs and grant, cancel or refuse visas
- Lead small operational teams executing enforcement activity
- Monitor and enforce immigration compliance with visa conditions, employer and labour-hire intermediary obligations, and migrant-worker sponsorship requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Australian citizenship required
- Must obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance
- ABF Workers must obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC)
- Home Affairs Workers must obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check
- Must be able to obtain working with children/vulnerable people certification
- Ability to work outside standard hours, on shift work, or provide on-call services
- Ability to undertake domestic travel for long periods of time
- Some positions may be required to hold or obtain a Use of Force permit
- Knowledge of, or ability to gain an understanding of, the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) and associated legislation/regulations
- Strong work ethic, determination, adaptability and professionalism
- Ability to contribute to and lead high-performing teams in a complex legislative environment and under pressure
