About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Interpret and apply legislation and powers under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) to support immigration compliance
- Direct or perform as delegate under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) in exercising statutory powers to detain non-citizens
- Manage a caseload of persons of interest within the community and prison network
- Exercise delegations and statutory powers to detain UNCs and grant, cancel, or refuse visas
- Supervise operational teams executing enforcement activity
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of, or ability to gain an understanding of, the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) and associated legislation/regulations
- Strong work ethic and high degree of determination, adaptability and professionalism
- Ability to contribute to and lead high performing teams in a complex legislative environment and changing priorities
- Must be able to obtain working with children/vulnerable people certification
- Ability to work outside standard hours, on shift work, or provide on-call services
- Ability to undertake domestic travel for long periods of time
- Some positions may be required to hold or obtain a Use of Force permit
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Must obtain and maintain Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance
- ABF Workers must obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC)
- Home Affairs Workers must obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check; in certain circumstances, an ESC may also be required
