About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and implement multi-region AWS network architectures, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, NACLs, and routing policies
- Manage and optimize AWS networking services including Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, CloudFront, and Application Load Balancers
- Architect and deploy highly available, resilient network solutions with automated failover and disaster recovery capabilities
- Implement network security best practices including encryption, access control, network segmentation, and compliance requirements
- Monitor network performance and implement optimization strategies to reduce latency and improve throughput across regions
- Lead infrastructure planning and capacity forecasting for future network growth and scaling needs
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads
- Document network architecture, configurations, and runbooks
- Conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and implement preventative measures to minimize downtime
- Provide technical leadership for enterprise networking architecture
- Ensure availability, security, scalability, and performance of network services across cloud environments
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of hands-on experience designing and maintaining enterprise-level networks
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience with AWS cloud networking and multi-region architecture
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Deep knowledge of AWS networking services, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, CloudFront, and ALB/NLB
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, routing protocols, BGP, and network security
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Experience with network monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or Prometheus
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Fargate
- Experience with network automation and programmable networking
- Familiarity with security compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and HIPAA
- Experience with incident response and disaster recovery planning
- AWS Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty certification, or equivalent, preferred
- Ability to work remotely and travel quarterly to Avalon’s corporate office in Tampa, Florida
