About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and maintain scalable backend services supporting critical banking products and operations
Contribute to modernization of legacy systems and adoption of modern Java development practices, including migration from Java 8 to Java 21
Ensure software quality through automated testing, code reviews, and engineering best practices
Collaborate with Software Engineers, Technical Leads, Product Owners, Quality Assurance Engineers, and Architects
Design, implement, test, and maintain robust backend solutions
Participate in the evolution of CI/CD processes and software delivery standards
Help drive responsible adoption of AI-powered development tools and modern engineering practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of experience developing backend applications with Java
Strong knowledge of Java 11+; Java 17/21 highly valued
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and REST API development
Experience designing and building microservices architectures
Knowledge of JPA/Hibernate and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server
Experience with JUnit and Mockito
Understanding of CI/CD practices, Git, Maven, and Docker
Experience with asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures
Ability to work autonomously and contribute to technical discussions and code reviews
Experience with Apache Kafka and messaging-based architectures is nice to have
Knowledge of MongoDB or other NoSQL databases is nice to have
Experience with Spring Security and JWT-based authentication is nice to have
Understanding of Hexagonal Architecture and SOLID principles is nice to have
Experience in Banking, Fintech, Payments, or other regulated industries is nice to have
Knowledge of Resilience4j, SonarQube, Testcontainers, or similar engineering tools is nice to have
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT is nice to have
Exposure to Java 21 features and modernization initiatives is nice to have
