About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build backend services and APIs in C#/.NET and Python
  • Build an AI gateway with access control, rate and spend limits, failover, and upgrades
  • Integrate with enterprise identity, secrets management, and clients’ AI services on Azure, AWS, and GCP
  • Build for performance and resilience through streaming, concurrency, caching, load testing, and graceful degradation
  • Store and serve audit, usage, and cost data reliably
  • Build cloud infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines with supply-chain security
  • Instrument systems with traces, metrics, and logs, including production alerts and runbooks
  • Work spec-first by writing specifications and acceptance criteria, implementing with AI coding agents, and reviewing and verifying generated code
  • Write and review production-grade code
  • Contribute to technical proposals
  • Potentially support platform deployment with enterprise clients

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of professional backend engineering experience
  • Production experience with both C#/.NET and Python, with strong expertise in at least one
  • Experience designing REST and gRPC APIs and distributed systems
  • Experience with asynchronous processing and queues, idempotency, relational and NoSQL data stores
  • Production experience on at least one major cloud provider and working experience with a second: Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Experience with Terraform or equivalent, containers, and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, secrets management, least privilege, network isolation, and data protection
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, or a cloud-native equivalent
  • Experience with spec-driven development, interface contracts, and acceptance criteria
  • Daily use of AI coding agents such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor
  • Experience with tools such as GitHub Spec Kit or Kiro
  • Rigorous review and testing of generated code
  • Working understanding of LLM applications, model APIs, streaming, and tool calling
  • Fluent English
  • Nice-to-have: API gateways and reverse proxies; policy engines and audit-grade logging; high-throughput streaming APIs; regulated industries; consulting or client-facing delivery; open-source contributions
