Key responsibilities & impact

Own the target architecture and modernization build strategy for a twenty-year-old .NET revenue and debt-recovery application
Define specifications, sequencing, architectural decisions, and acceptance criteria for incremental application replacement
Direct the external partner’s agentic build process, including delivery order, acceptance, merge gates, and divergence resolution
Critically review generated code for correctness and maintainability
Manage specification drift, blueprint coherence, regeneration risks, and test limitations
Distinguish defects from accepted legacy behavior and ensure differences are surfaced early
Run the partner relationship, including cadence, escalation, scope, estimates, quality, and evidence standards
Ensure Neumo can build, deploy, operate, modify, and extend the delivered system independently of the partner
Build internal engineering capability continuously throughout delivery
Own durable documentation, including architecture, data model, decisions, divergences, and operational runbooks
Translate build status, risks, assumptions, and decisions into actionable executive communications
Represent Neumo’s technical position with the partner, customers, and procurement

Requirements

What you’ll need

12+ years building and operating production software, including significant time at staff or principal level
Real depth in agentic or AI-assisted software delivery at production scale; experience shipping systems this way
Demonstrated ownership of architecture for large, multi-team systems
Experience directing external delivery partners, consultancies, or systems integrators
Track record of incremental legacy modernization, including strangler patterns, coexistence, live data migration, and cutovers with no tolerance for loss
Deep relational database experience
Comfort in both .NET and a modern web stack
Exceptional written communication
Judgment to distinguish acceptable divergences from issues requiring a stop to delivery, particularly in financial calculation
Comfort operating with authority over an external team without authority over internal colleagues
Proven effectiveness in a remote, distributed organization
Government technology, regtech, fintech, payments, or another regulated domain experience preferred
Experience with financial calculation, payment allocation, interest accrual, or reconciliation systems preferred
Accessibility engineering to WCAG 2.1 AA preferred
Familiarity with StateRAMP/GovRAMP, FedRAMP, SOC 2, PCI DSS, or IRS Publication 1075 preferred
Experience taking over and operating a system built by someone else preferred
