About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, support, and professional development opportunities
- Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment
- Participate in hiring new team members
- Procure new contracts and clients by identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and maintaining relationships
- Oversee and manage transportation engineering projects, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, high-quality completion
- Help ensure projects comply with federal, state, and local regulations
- Serve as a client point of contact and address client needs
- Provide technical guidance on traffic analysis, signal timing, data and traffic studies, Travel Demand Modeling (TDM), forecasting, solutions development, and EA/IACR support
- Serve as Engineer of Record for own work and work completed under direction
- Contribute to strategic planning and growth across Avenue’s geographies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field required
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required
- 8+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Good communication skills with the capability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- A strong interest in traffic operations
- An understanding of national traffic standards and ADOT’s standards
- Capable of analyzing and interpreting traffic data
- Willingness to learn, provide feedback, and receive feedback
- Proficient with Microsoft office suite, especially Excel
- Proficient with traffic analysis software packages such as Synchro, Vissim, and Cube
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 100% of the time
- Consistently operates a computer and other office equipment such as scanner/printer, paper cutter, laminator, etc.
- Constantly communicates with discipline experts, clients, team members, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Must be able to perceive digital software, programs, and websites
