About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform traffic operations using various software tools, including Synchro, Tru-Traffic, WaySync-D, and ATSPM
- Perform data and statistical analyses for corridor and freeway operations
- Develop and implement traffic signal timing plans
- Update plans at the signal control and central systems
- Develop recommendations of Maintenance of Traffic requirements for construction projects
- Collect traffic data via on-site methods or online data repositories, including ATSPM, ClearGuide, and freeway Performance Measurement System
- Perform field observations of traffic conditions and the operation of traffic control devices
- Perform traffic engineering studies, including traffic signal warrant, left-turn, speed, pedestrian, reduced speed area, and passing zones studies
- Summarize and communicate data, processes, and analysis results
- Perform other duties as assigned and experience allows
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field required
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required
- 4+ years of relevant experience preferred
- Good communication skills with the capability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- A strong interest in traffic operations
- Capable of analyzing and interpreting traffic data
- Willingness to learn, provide feedback, and receive feedback
- Proficient with Microsoft office suite, especially Excel
- Proficient with traffic analysis software packages such as Synchro
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 100% of the time
- Consistently operates a computer and other office equipment such as scanner/printer, paper cutter, laminator, etc.
- Constantly communicates with discipline experts, clients, team members, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Must be able to perceive digital software, programs, and websites
