About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems of simple to moderate complexity, including life support equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems
- Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions
- Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, equipment repairs and failures, and all biomedical equipment service events, tests, and maintenance
- Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs
- Provide technical assistance and instruction to clinical and operational staff on equipment operations and maintenance
- Review preventive maintenance outcomes and recommend improvements to department staff
- Maintain accurate biomedical equipment inventory, including additions and deactivations
- Collaborate with other biomedical equipment technicians
- Assist with in-service educational programs on equipment use
- Assist technicians with more complex preventive maintenance and repairs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's or military equivalent in electronics or biomedical equipment technology (preferred)
- Minimum of one year related experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment
- Ability to work the specified hours, including night, weekend, and holiday on-call involvement
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
- Ability to communicate effectively with others and hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
- Working knowledge of interconnected systems, VLAN, isolated networks, and IT systems interfaces
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Compliance with applicable CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, and OSHA safety principles, laws, regulations, and standards
