About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide quality cardiac and peripheral vascular ultrasound scans as directed by physicians
  • Perform adult cardiac, vascular, and stress echocardiography examinations
  • Educate patients and families about administered procedures
  • Initiate appropriate interventions, including notifying physicians when results require immediate attention
  • Maintain equipment, infection control, safety, and other technical service area standards
  • Document procedure data completely and accurately for reading physician interpretation
  • Manage the echocardiographic portion of the Cardiology department
  • Follow appropriate billing procedures
  • Set up and maintain echocardiography and stress echocardiography outreach programs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's degree in a related health care field (e.g., Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Cardiovascular Technology)
  • Radiography (R) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire OR RDCS (AE) certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) upon hire
  • Ability to work the specified hours
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to perform each essential job function satisfactorily
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Compliance with applicable safety principles, laws, regulations, and standards, including CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, and OSHA
