About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide professional nursing care to patients and families
- Communicate with physicians and healthcare team members to provide patient care
- Perform general nursing care and administer prescribed medications and treatments
- Coordinate patient care activities for the clinic
- Prepare equipment and assist providers during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing
- Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions to providers
- Oversee appointment scheduling and maintain timely patient flow
- Greet patients and prepare them for examinations
- Obtain health histories, take vital signs, conduct nursing assessments, and document information in patient charts
- Instruct patients on collection of samples and tests
- Respond to patient phone calls with appropriate physician input
- Educate patients and families about diagnostics, medications, nutrition, and health and wellness
- Address patient care crisis problems and complaints
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies, cleanliness, and medical supply lists
- Label pathology specimens according to lab protocol
- Perform quality control and maintain records for laboratory testing
- Perform clerical duties including patient check-in, answering phones, scheduling, processing payments, verifying patient information and insurance benefits, and other administrative tasks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be able to work the specified hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 8am–12pm; Wednesday 8am–4:30pm at Niobrara; 24 hours/week
- Registered Nurse (RN) certification/license required
- Active license in the state of practice upon hire
- Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
- Ability to communicate effectively, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
- Ability to perform each essential job function satisfactorily
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Compliance with applicable safety principles, laws, regulations, and standards, including CMS, The Joint Commission, DHHS, and OSHA if applicable
