About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, implement, and manage sales compensation programs, including commission plans, incentive programs, sales contests, and recognition initiatives
- Lead the annual sales compensation planning and implementation cycle, including plan design, modelling, approvals, stakeholder engagement, communications, and rollout
- Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend enhancements
- Oversee day-to-day administration of sales compensation programs and support the Commission Specialist
- Ensure accurate and timely calculation, validation, and payout of incentives and commissions
- Review compensation calculations, resolve complex inquiries, and address escalations
- Streamline processes, improve controls, and enhance operational efficiency
- Monitor sales performance, incentive attainment, compensation outcomes, and program effectiveness
- Develop and maintain compensation reporting, dashboards, and management analytics
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to Sales, Finance, and senior leadership
- Conduct financial and performance modelling for proposed compensation plan changes
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and corporate governance standards
- Maintain sales compensation policies, plan documents, guidelines, and terms and conditions
- Implement controls and audit processes for data integrity, plan compliance, and payment accuracy
- Partner with Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit
- Build relationships with Sales, Finance, People, and business leaders
- Advise stakeholders on sales compensation matters and communicate plans, changes, and incentive results
- Conduct market research and benchmarking
- Monitor industry trends, emerging practices, and legislative developments
- Recommend improvements to plan design, reporting, processes, and participant experience
- Support compensation system enhancements and technology initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Post-secondary education; CPA, CCP or other relevant professional designation considered an asset
- 7+ years of progressive experience in sales compensation, incentive design, compensation analytics, finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years designing, implementing, and administering sales incentive programs
- Experience within asset management, wealth management, financial services, or other highly regulated industries preferred
- Experience managing the full lifecycle of sales compensation programs, including plan design, financial modelling, implementation, governance, administration, and communications
- Advanced analytical and quantitative capabilities
- Experience developing performance metrics and conducting financial analysis
- Ability to translate complex business, financial, and compensation data into clear insights and recommendations
- Strong relationship management and influencing skills
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to develop executive-level presentations and business cases
- Fluent communication skills in English required
- Bilingual skills in French are an asset
- Knowledge of compensation governance, regulatory requirements, and incentive and variable pay best practices
- Experience developing and maintaining compensation policies, plan documents, guidelines, and governance processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Word
- Experience with sales compensation, commission management, CRM, HRIS, or business intelligence systems considered an asset
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven
- Self-motivated and adaptable, able to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in a fast-paced environment
