About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development of the control system, from control system design to field instrumentation
- Procure customer user requirement specifications
- Evaluate control strategies and suitability to common industrial processes
- Evaluate I&C documentation, including Control Narratives, RATS Lists, Cause and Effect Diagrams, and Serial Interface Lists
- Design and implement multiple-loop control systems
- Integrate control systems with existing and other systems
- Program PLCs and calibrate field devices
- Lead initiatives to improve process and systems optimization
- Develop HMI display graphics and configurations
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures for control systems
- Develop SCADA / RTU applications including historian, trending, and reporting
- Configure and troubleshoot industrial network components
- Support internal Factory Acceptance Testing before equipment shipment
- Support field commissioning and operations of complete water and wastewater systems
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Deliver service to clients and on-site partners
- Perform root cause analysis for control system failures and implement corrective actions
- Provide remote technical support for clients and site operators
- Mentor junior staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of experience
- Experience in water/wastewater treatment plants and other turnkey industrial process packages is an asset
- Post-secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation
- Experience in PLC programming and field service support for multiple programming platforms
- Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix / CompactLogix, Siemens S7 using TIA Portal, and CODESYS-based PLC systems
- Experience and/or working knowledge with Rockwell FactoryTalk View Studio and Siemens WinCC / TIA Portal
- Experience with Schneider PLC and HMI platforms, such as Modicon and EcoStruxure, including Structured Text programming, is an asset
- Experience and/or knowledge with SCADA, various VFDs, and industrial communications networks
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and pride in delivering high quality results
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to provide leadership to small project teams
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Interest in continuous learning
- Willingness to travel less than 25% of the time
