About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead development of control systems from design through field instrumentation
Procure customer user requirement specifications
Evaluate control strategies and suitability for industrial processes
Evaluate I&C documentation, including Control Narratives, RATS Lists, Cause and Effect Diagrams, and Serial Interface Lists
Design and implement multiple-loop control systems and integrate them with existing systems
Program PLCs and calibrate field devices
Lead process and systems optimization initiatives
Develop HMI display graphics and configurations
Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures for control systems
Develop SCADA/RTU applications with historian, trending, and reporting capabilities
Configure and troubleshoot industrial network components
Support internal Factory Acceptance Testing before equipment shipment
Support field commissioning and operation of water and wastewater systems
Travel less than 25% of the time for field support
Communicate with engineering, fabrication, CAD, consultants, suppliers, clients, and site partners to identify and resolve issues
Perform root cause analysis for control system failures and implement corrective actions
Provide remote technical support to clients and site operators
Mentor junior staff

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of experience
Experience in water/wastewater treatment plants and other turnkey industrial process packages is an asset
Post-secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation
Experience in PLC programming and field service support for multiple programming platforms
Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix / CompactLogix, Siemens S7 using TIA Portal, and CODESYS-based PLC systems
Experience with Rockwell FactoryTalk View Studio and Siemens WinCC / TIA Portal
Experience with Schneider PLC and HMI platforms, including Modicon and EcoStruxure, is an asset
Structured Text programming experience is an asset
Experience and/or knowledge with SCADA, VFDs, and industrial communications networks
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail
Ability to work independently and within a team
Ability to provide leadership to small project teams
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Interest in continuous learning
