About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Take full responsibility for the development cycle of battery energy storage projects—from site identification and grid connection through permitting and preparation for the Final Investment Decision (FID)
- Lead M&A processes, including project identification, negotiations, coordination of due diligence, and contract drafting
- Build and maintain relationships with grid operators, landowners, permitting authorities, statutory public-interest bodies, stakeholder groups, and the wider public
- Coordinate collaboration with external development partners and manage companies/SPVs for battery projects
- Monitor regulatory and market developments in battery storage and renewable energy in Germany and Europe, and provide strategic input to the management team
- Strengthen collaboration between the Battery team, other Axpo Renewables divisions, and Axpo Group support functions
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in engineering, natural sciences, business administration, or a comparable field
- 5+ years of experience developing renewable energy projects (PV, wind, etc.), ideally with a focus on permitting procedures and/or grid connection applications
- Experience in project management or project development in the energy sector, ideally with a focus on battery energy storage systems (BESS); experience with PV or wind projects is also welcome
- Good knowledge of the German energy market and regulatory framework, with a focus on renewable energy
- Strategic mindset, structured approach to work, and ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills
- German and English language skills
