About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support and maintain Microsoft SQL Server production environments
- Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity
- Troubleshoot database issues and support production incidents
- Optimize queries and improve database performance
- Manage backups, recovery processes, security, permissions, and access
- Support database deployments, releases, schema changes, and migrations
- Review T-SQL, database changes, and migration scripts
- Contribute to pull request reviews and promote database best practices
- Work closely with developers on database design and performance
- Support High Availability and Disaster Recovery processes
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to improve deployment and CI/CD processes
- Contribute to monitoring, observability, and database automation
- Maintain clear documentation, procedures, and runbooks
- Help improve the way we operate, monitor, and manage our databases
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of experience in database administration, database engineering, or a similar role
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server in production environments
- Strong T-SQL skills
- Good understanding of performance tuning and database troubleshooting
- Experience with backups, recovery, and database security
- Understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) concepts
- Experience supporting database deployments and schema changes
- Familiarity with source control, pull requests, and CI/CD
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Preferred: Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB
- Preferred: Experience with AWS or another cloud platform
- Preferred: Exposure to Grafana or similar monitoring tools
- Preferred: Familiarity with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code
- Preferred: Experience with database automation
- Preferred: Experience working in a DataOps or DevOps environment
- Preferred: Experience collaborating with Development and Architecture teams on database performance and design
