About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and operate the internal developer platform and its tooling and infrastructure
- Enable product teams to set up and run their own services independently
- Drive cloud migration by moving and consolidating services into a modern cloud-native setup
- Design system and infrastructure architecture
- Communicate architecture clearly through diagrams and other documentation
- Work directly with product engineers to resolve infrastructure problems and unblock delivery
- Deliver with coding agents and improve how the wider team uses them
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong, hands-on cloud engineering experience on AWS at organisational scale, including multi-account setups, identity and access, networking, and account-level guardrails
- Security-first approach, including least privilege, secrets management, patching, and vulnerability remediation
- Deep hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or a close equivalent
- Comfortable owning delivery pipelines on AWS
- TypeScript on Node.js as the primary application language, or a deliberate and recent move to it
- Python is a welcome secondary language
- Go or Rust useful for performance-critical components
- Track record of building or choosing internal tooling that improves engineering productivity
- Delivery experience in both lean startup settings and larger organisations, with end-to-end ownership
- Daily experience using coding agents and reviewing their output
- Nice to have: monorepo build systems and shared tooling experience
- Nice to have: previous cloud-migration work
- Nice to have: internal command-line tools or code generators
- Nice to have: public technical work such as open-source contributions or writing
