About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead end-to-end design of AI-powered product experiences from concepts and prototypes through launch and continuous improvement, beginning with BT Compass
Define interaction principles and design standards for AI reasoning, confidence indicators, evidence transparency, provenance, escalation, and human-in-the-loop decision-making
Partner with product management, engineering, architecture, and subject matter experts to align requirements, user experiences, technical capabilities, and acceptance criteria
Conduct user research with firm practitioners and translate findings into actionable design improvements
Develop and maintain lightweight design systems, reusable components, and consistent interaction patterns across AI-enabled products
Design feedback and correction mechanisms that help practitioners review, refine, and improve AI-generated outputs
Use modern, AI-assisted, and agentic design technologies to develop and test high-fidelity prototypes
Establish quality standards, influence design direction, and help build the design function
Provide direction and mentorship to future design team members
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned to advance the firm's AI product strategy

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Design, Human–Computer Interaction, or a related field
10+ years of progressive product design experience
Demonstrated success designing and launching AI-powered or agentic products in production environments
Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design capabilities, particularly in AI trust, transparency, evidence presentation, human oversight, and user experience quality
Proven expertise in human–AI interaction design, including AI reasoning, confidence indicators, provenance, review-and-approval workflows, escalation, and failure states
Experience collaborating with engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts in cross-functional development teams
Experience designing intuitive solutions for expert users in complex, highly accountable, or professionally regulated environments
Experience establishing scalable design standards, reusable interaction patterns, and lightweight design systems across multiple products
Strong proficiency in modern product design and working-fidelity prototyping tools, including AI-assisted and agentic technologies
Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and iterative design validation
Ability to translate research findings into product requirements, acceptance criteria, and measurable improvements
Strong technical aptitude and ability to translate complex AI capabilities, model behaviors, and platform constraints into practical user experiences
Exceptional conceptual thinking, problem-solving, and design judgment
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality solutions in a dynamic environment
Ability to provide hands-on design leadership, establish quality standards, and mentor emerging design talent
Commitment to continuous learning and leveraging emerging AI technologies
