About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, implement, and operate scalable infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and other cloud providers
- Engineer and improve foundational services and standard patterns for identity integration, networking, logging/monitoring, compute, storage, and security controls
- Own lifecycle management for key services, including upgrades, deprecation planning, and operational readiness
- Develop and maintain reusable infrastructure-as-code modules and standardized patterns using Terraform, Ansible, and Bicep
- Establish code quality expectations through reviews, documentation, versioning, and validation
- Build automation workflows and scripts using Python, PowerShell, and Bash to eliminate manual operational tasks
- Own reliability outcomes for cloud services
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis and implement preventative improvements
- Define and improve runbooks, monitoring standards, alerting practices, and support models
- Implement security and compliance guardrails, patterns, and technical controls with Security/Risk
- Support audit readiness through evidence support and control implementation
- Design and validate backup, recovery, and resilience patterns
- Lead and automate patching and vulnerability management improvements
- Translate requirements into cloud-first designs, implementation plans, and roadmaps
- Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
- Provide technical guidance across teams and influence patterns and decisions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or related roles
- Hands-on engineering depth in at least two major cloud providers: AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI
- Strong IaC skills, including Terraform and/or Ansible, with module development and pattern standardization
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent
- Experience implementing or significantly improving CI/CD practices for infrastructure delivery
- Strong operational ownership: incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and preventative remediation
- Two or more listed cloud certifications preferred
- Knowledge of multi-cloud design and operations
- Knowledge of foundational services and standard patterns, including identity integration, networking, logging and monitoring, compute, storage, and security controls
- Knowledge of operational excellence practices, including runbooks, monitoring standards, alerting practices, operational readiness, and lifecycle management
- Knowledge of security and compliance implementation patterns and audit readiness
- Ability to own reliability outcomes and reduce operational toil through automation
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs, implementation plans, and roadmaps
- Ability to mentor engineers and influence cross-team patterns
- Container platforms and orchestration experience preferred
- Knowledge of cloud governance and guardrails preferred
- Knowledge of centralized logging and security monitoring integrations preferred
- Experience with regulated environments and audit readiness preferred
- Experience with multi-region patterns, shared services networking, and private connectivity preferred
