About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide tax advocacy and controversy services on civil matters
  • Represent clients for IRS notice responses, penalty abatement requests, and other IRS negotiations
  • Advocate on clients' behalf before IRS collections and all 50 state tax agencies
  • Respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries when requested
  • Make recommendations to clients for consideration
  • Participate actively in internal and external training sessions and networking events
  • Deliver industry-focused advisory services to market clients
  • Work face-to-face with clients to negotiate and advocate for IRS and state tax matters
  • Collaborate with teammates, leadership, and internal and external clients

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-year degree
  • 3 years of professional experience
  • License eligible required
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a professional services firm providing tax compliance services or equivalent government agency required
  • Previous experience in tax advocacy or controversy is a plus
  • Demonstrated analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills
  • Developed Microsoft Suite skills, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment
  • Sense of urgency and commitment to quality and timely completion of duties
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with internal and external clients daily
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong project management and facilitation skills
  • EA, CPA or JD or Law License preferred
