About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver state and local tax advisory and compliance services to clients
- Conduct research and prepare memoranda on SALT issues for individuals, corporations, and flow-through entities
- Assist with M&A due diligence and voluntary disclosure programs
- Assist with various tax compliance matters
- Work on sales and use taxes, realty transfer taxes, income/franchise taxes, gross receipts taxes, real and personal property taxes, excise taxes, local taxes, and unclaimed property
- Address issues and questions for internal clients and potential prospects
- Participate in intern orientation, technical training, and development programs
- Learn through real work engagements and on-the-job training
- Learn from associates, seniors, managers, and partners across industries and services
- Build professional relationships while gaining practical experience
- Demonstrate performance and ability to join Baker Tilly as a full-time associate
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently enrolled in or pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree program in Accounting or a related business discipline from an accredited institution
- Must have at least one academic term remaining following completion of the internship
- On track to meet the educational requirements for CPA exam eligibility and/or Bar exam prior to the start of a full-time Associate position
- Authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa sponsorship, now or in the future
- Resume and unofficial transcript(s) required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to conduct basic research, analyze information, and document findings clearly and accurately
- Openness to learning emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Clear written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Organization, time management, attention to detail, and reliability in meeting deadlines
- Professionalism, integrity, accountability, and sound judgment
- Commitment to quality, continuous learning, and responsive client service
