About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide tax, accounting, and advisory services to individuals and small business clients, specifically in trust and estate tax
  • Oversee accounting, bookkeeping, and prepared or compiled financials
  • Review and analyze accounting records and reporting; provide analysis and consultation
  • Communicate with clients about accounting and business matters
  • Deliver responsive, timely, professional, and accurate client service
  • Lead and plan client engagements
  • Evaluate client-service and implementation processes and procedures; implement efficiencies and identify internal control issues
  • Recommend business and process improvements based on client operations, processes, and objectives
  • Manage and build client relationships; resolve client issues and assist with additional services
  • Delegate and oversee work by setting goals, providing resources, removing obstacles, and scheduling deadlines
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal tax practices and laws
  • Assist with engagement staffing, billings, collections, and client profitability targets
  • Network and build relationships internally, externally, with clients, and with the community
  • Participate in professional development and firm-wide learning programs
  • Support team-member growth through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-year degree
  • CPA, Law License, or EA
  • Five (5) years of experience
  • Five (5)+ years of experience providing tax compliance and consulting services in a public accounting firm
  • Experience with private wealth tax and consulting, particularly with trust and estate tax
  • Two (2)+ years of supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates
  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and supervise others and provide exceptional client service
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with applicable strategies
  • Ethical knowledge and commitment
  • Sense of urgency and commitment to quality and timely project completion
  • Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
