About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a firmwide resource for accounting methods-related matters
- Lead a wide range of accounting methods issues and projects
- Conduct in-depth technical research and analysis of complex accounting method matters
- Research and interpret statutes, regulations, administrative guidance, case law, and other authoritative sources
- Develop technically sound positions and practical recommendations tailored to clients
- Monitor and evaluate new and proposed tax legislation, regulations, administrative guidance, and judicial decisions
- Assess potential impacts on clients and the firm’s tax practice
- Serve as a national technical resource for practice leaders, subject-matter specialists, and client-facing teams
- Network and build strong internal and external relationships
- Develop connections in the tax intelligence community and raise Baker Tilly’s public profile
- Support the growth and development of team members in accounting methods
- Draft and review tax alerts, technical updates, articles, presentations, and thought-leadership materials
- Develop and deliver technical training, webinars, and educational programs
- Build and maintain relationships across service lines, practice offices, and engagement teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be located near a Baker Tilly office
- 4-year degree
- 14 years professional experience
- CPA or Law License/JD required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or another related field required
- Twelve (12)+ years of experience in accounting methods and/or federal tax consulting
- Experience performing tax research, reading case law, and familiarity with the Internal Revenue Code and associated regulations
- Demonstrated tax technical, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting technical memoranda and tax analyses
- Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
