About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in conflict-of-interest identification, resolution and clearance for new Firm representation or lateral personnel
- Assist with conflicts clearance for new business, attorney and staff hires, and law firm acquisitions/mergers
- Provide waiver and engagement letter exemplars and assist in drafting them
- Review client waiver and engagement letters to ensure required conditions are met
- Analyze new matter request information for compliance with Firm policies and professional responsibility rules
- Review and edit draft engagement letters for compliance
- Review client outside counsel guidelines and assess the Firm’s ability to comply
- Monitor conflicts-of-interest management trends and identify process improvements
- Coordinate with Intake Services managers and supervisors on best practices and quality assurance protocols
- Develop and implement conflicts training programs for newly hired staff
- Coordinate workflow and personnel activities to optimize efficiency, accuracy and timely output
- Improve processes and implement automation for conflicts analysis
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- JD from an accredited institution
- Good standing to a state bar in which the Firm has a physical office
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a lawyer in a mid-size to large law firm
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable ethical, legal and risk management rules and requirements governing conflicts of interest and conflict resolution
- Knowledge of compliance issues and guidelines applicable to international law firms
- Ability to initiate, follow through and complete time-sensitive projects with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively and provide quality work under extremely tight deadline pressure
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel with tact and diplomacy
- Interpersonal communication skills to maintain effective relationships with partners, attorneys and staff
- Proven leadership skills and ability to provide direction
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Independent thinking and decision-making ability
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience with automated conflict check software
- InTapp Open software experience preferred
- Significant experience in conflict of interest law and/or professional responsibility preferred
