About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Review and check Creo 3D CAD models and drawings for form, fit, function, design intent, and compliance with engineering requirements
Evaluate Model-Based Definition (MBD), GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analyses
Verify product definition for manufacturability, inspection, assembly, and testing requirements
Identify design defects and develop solutions to complex engineering problems
Support configuration management processes for review, approval, release, and distribution of engineering models, drawings, and specifications
Lead and participate in design reviews
Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and technical personnel
Recommend improvements to design standards, modeling practices, and MBD processes
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
Manage multiple assignments independently while meeting customer and project requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science, Mathematics, or a related field from an accredited institution and at least eight years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Advanced knowledge of mechanical CAD, mechanical design, and engineering principles
Experience using Creo 3D CAD software and PDMLink Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
Experience checking 3D CAD models and drawings and working with Model-Based Definition (MBD)
Proficiency in GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
Knowledge of ASME Y14 standards, particularly Y14.5-2009 and Y14.41
Experience with mechanical fabrication, inspection, assembly, and testing processes
Knowledge of engineering configuration management and product-definition release workflows
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Ability to independently resolve complex technical problems and manage multiple priorities
Preferred: experience with design and drafting in weapons and non-weapons environments
Preferred: experience developing and implementing organizational design or drafting standards
Preferred: previous model and drawing checking experience within the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE)
Preferred: active Q clearance
