About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide legal counsel to multiple Front Line Units regarding residential mortgage loan servicing
- Advise on custom mortgage loan products, loss mitigation, workouts and loan modifications
- Review legal contracts and documents and conduct legal research
- Analyze legal issues and implications involving consumer banking and wealth management products, services and regulatory matters
- Communicate clear, concise, actionable and business-informed legal advice, including occasionally to leadership
- Interpret rulings, laws and regulations from a compliance and business control standpoint
- Draft, review and/or negotiate complex legal documents, including engagement letters, debt agreements, offering documents and legal opinions
- Gather, assess and evaluate information to make judgments or inferences
- Support company responses to government agency examinations and investigations, enforcement actions, private complaints and litigation
- Provide legal support for residential mortgage servicing, including GCSAG default servicing for Custom mortgage and additional Custom mortgage support
- Support client escalations, daily advice, Dodd-Frank compliance, servicing questions, legal/compliance matters related to default servicing and general legal advice
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active Bar Admission in at least one state and in good standing
- Minimum 7 years of legal/compliance experience in the mortgage industry
- Experience with custom residential mortgage loan documentation
- Experience with high net worth residential mortgage servicing
- Experience with high net worth mortgage lending, including sales, underwriting, products and programs, and client escalations
- Familiarity with estate planning trust types, LLCs, LPs and related issues, including title vesting
- Doctorate degree in a related field
- Ability to work 1st shift
- Ability to work 40 hours per week
