About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide client service support to multiple Financial Advisors
  • Serve as the most frequent point of contact within Merrill for clients’ service needs
  • Act as a resource for Financial Advisors on the team
  • Obtain Securities Industry licenses and complete dedicated study and training
  • Progress through the Advisor Development Program toward becoming a Financial Advisor
  • Build, acquire, and manage client relationships and develop a book of business
  • Prioritize and source prospective clients, capitalize on referrals, assess customer needs, and refer customers to internal specialists
  • Recommend suitable investment products and services based on client objectives, resources, time horizon, risk profile, and preferences
  • Balance investment growth, referral activities, customer follow-up, prospect building, administrative compliance, and professional development
  • Organize and manage time, people, and budget to run a productive practice
  • Seek specialist expertise to identify planning and investment strategies
  • Complete mandated training, assessments, performance goals, and continuing education
  • Partner with Financial Advisors, Client Relationship Managers, and Market Supervision Managers on client servicing, risk, investments, and banking products
  • Educate clients on the bank’s services and banking offerings
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of client materials and follow up on requests
  • Support compliance with bank policies and procedures, operational excellence, client protection, and risk management
  • Identify, deepen, and maintain client relationships by promoting bank offerings and banking integration
  • Provide business development, investment solutions, and business management support to multiple Financial Advisors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum Education Requirement: High School Diploma / GED / Secondary School or equivalent
  • Displays confidence working as a self-starter in a sales role
  • Builds strong client relationships through effective communication and collaboration
  • Displays a proactive mindset and effective time management
  • Demonstrates a results-driven growth mindset and prioritizes client interests
  • Identifies appropriate client solutions through application of learnings and new information
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven ability to quickly build trust and credibility
  • Proven ability to assess needs and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively on a team and independently
  • Proven ability to listen and probe for clarity and understanding
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with proven ability to source clients through extensive prospecting and networking
  • Strong follow-through skills
  • Computer/technical literacy and proficiency in applications such as Microsoft Suite
  • SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 licenses must be obtained within 120 days; Series 63 and 65 accepted in lieu of Series 66 if previously held
  • SAFE Act registration and required background check
  • Must remain in good standing with SAFE Act registration
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of one year of work experience (desired qualification)
