About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Configure complex software delivery automation
- Ensure software deployments meet access, ownership, and authentication standards
- Provide technical direction within a functional domain
- Modify code for software deployment automation
- Oversee software promotion pipelines for complex/high-availability applications using Continuous Delivery practices
- Lead end-to-end DevOps enablement across development, testing, certification, and production environments
- Execute and support application deployments using enterprise deployment and automation tools including Ansible Tower, XL Release, Harness, and Merlin
- Partner with Release Management, Infrastructure, Application Development, and Support teams
- Lead DevOps initiatives and drive team execution
- Develop metrics and reporting and represent the team in leadership forums
- Support continuous process improvement
- Mentor DevOps Engineers, decompose complex tasks, and assign work to individuals or teams
- Respond to escalated events and issues and create action-plan summaries for stakeholders
- Collaborate with application owners on CI/CD tool adoption strategies
- Monitor and respond to aggregate alert trends across CI/CD service KPIs
- Propose new CI/CD service platform features and capabilities
- Address risk and audit issues related to access control, separation of duties, and software release management standards
- Integrate CI/CD platform changes across monitoring, alerting, forecasting, and reporting functions
- Work with IaaS environments and cloud-based solutions
- Support enterprise application environments including WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, and IBM HTTP Server (IHS)
- Perform application troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Release Engineering, Middleware Support, Application Support, or related disciplines
- Hands-on experience supporting Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2025)
- Experience with enterprise application servers and web servers
- Strong understanding of enterprise web application architectures
- Experience troubleshooting Java/J2EE applications and performing end-to-end application flow analysis
- Experience working with databases, including SQL queries and updates
- Working knowledge of networking concepts
- Strong Linux/Unix administration skills
- Experience with DevOps and monitoring tools such as Ansible, BladeLogic, CA APM/CA Introscope (or equivalent), Splunk, Dynatrace
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with cloud and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platforms
- Knowledge of deployment and release management tools such as Harness, Merlin, uDeploy, Perforce
- Experience with message queuing technologies (MQ)
- Scripting and programming experience with Shell Scripting, Perl, Java, or Python
- Experience working in Agile software delivery environments
- Exposure to infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform or similar tools
- Experience leading teams, mentoring engineers, and driving operational excellence initiatives
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and represent DevOps organizations in leadership discussions
- Ability to participate in scheduled release weekends, approximately one weekend per month
