GFC Manager – Correspondent Banking

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute substantive money laundering, economic sanctions, fraud compliance, and operational risk practices
- Work directly or through compliance officers for Front Line Units and Control Functions to complete compliance, policy, and operational/fraud risk management requirements
- Provide oversight and challenge of financial crimes risks in correspondent banking
- Advise and direct development and maintenance of financial crimes-owned policies and standards
- Review Front Line Units and Control Functions policies and standards for regulatory and operational risk coverage
- Produce and/or oversee independent financial crimes risk management reporting to senior leaders
- Monitor regulatory changes and direct policy, standards, procedure, and process updates
- Participate in industry forums and monitor regulatory expectations, emerging legislation, political scrutiny, litigation, and key influencers
- Escalate financial crimes compliance and operational risks to governance routines and management/board-level committees
- Identify, aggregate, report, escalate, inspect, and challenge remediation and thematic analysis of financial crimes issues and control enhancements
- Review and challenge internal and external operational loss events, develop remediation plans, and oversee control improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of seven years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) and related AML legislation
- Strong understanding of correspondent banking products and services, including nostro/vostro accounts, payable-through arrangements, and cross-border payment flows
- Awareness of financial crime risks inherent in correspondent banking, including money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, and nested relationships
- Ability to identify and assess jurisdictional and counterparty risks, including exposure to high-risk geographies, PEPs, and shell banks
- Practical knowledge of Correspondent Banking Due Diligence (CBDD), including KYC/KYCC principles, enhanced due diligence triggers, and periodic review processes
- Familiarity with transaction monitoring and screening controls applicable to correspondent banking
- Working knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and industry standards, including FATF Recommendations, Wolfsberg Group CBDDQ, and Basel Committee guidance
- Conceptual understanding of financial crime detection models, including interpreting outputs and understanding model limitations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across business, compliance, and operations teams
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Conceptual understanding of transaction monitoring and screening
