Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design tools and services within a technical domain that enable business strategies and comply with architectural governance, standards, and policies
  • Create infrastructure tools and integrate them as services
  • Facilitate deployment of technical solutions by developing templates, playbooks, and automation
  • Improve efficiency in implementing and maintaining tools and services
  • Configure, maintain, and support IBM System Automation for z/OS and GDPS-CA technology
  • Support the IBM System Automation z/OS, Automation NETVIEW, and GDPS-CA tool set, including associated automation processes, programming, and policy databases
  • Develop programs in REXX and PIPES for automation initiatives
  • Provide technical leadership and technical knowledge as a team member and individual contributor
  • Participate in on-call support
  • Provide subject matter expertise and consulting across a range of technologies
  • Assist Technical Analysts and Infrastructure Engineers with enterprise system design and engineering compliance
  • Translate business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and deployment playbooks
  • Evaluate reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for fitness for purpose
  • Develop software solutions for manual, repeatable, or inefficient processes
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of third-party products considered for firm adoption
  • Contribute to functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience with the Mainframe z/OS operating system
  • Deep knowledge of the Mainframe z/OS operating system
  • Higher-level understanding of Mainframe System Automation and Mainframe operations
  • LPAR experience
  • Working Mainframe REXX programming experience
  • Solid understanding of PIPES
  • Solid experience with IBM System Automation ZOS
  • Mainframe z/OS, JCL, TSO, and ISPF knowledge
  • Deep knowledge of IBM Utilities, including IEBCOPY and IEBGENER
  • Complex understanding of REXX programming and Pipes Programming
  • Ability to write and maintain documentation
  • Ability to work closely with clients to automate processes and solve client issues
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface with system programmers, application developers, support teams, software vendors, and management staff
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables with various time and date deliveries
  • Ability to work after hours and some weekend and holiday hours
  • Ability to work with minimum to no supervision and as a team member
  • Ability to develop technical solution requirements and lead individual or small-team initiatives when required
