About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design tools and services within a technical domain that enable business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards, and policies
- Create infrastructure tools and integrate them as services
- Develop templates, playbooks, and automation to facilitate deployment of technical solutions
- Improve efficiency when implementing and maintaining tools and services
- Support the IBM System Automation z/OS, Automation NETVIEW, and GDPS-CA toolset and associated automation processes, programming, and policy database
- Configure, maintain, and support IBM System Automation for z/OS and GDPS-CA technology
- Develop REXX and PIPES programs for automation initiatives
- Write and maintain documentation
- Demonstrate technical leadership and provide technical knowledge as a team member and individual contributor
- Communicate with technical, managerial, and vendor audiences
- Participate in on-call support
- Provide subject matter expertise and consulting services across technologies
- Assist Technical Analysts and Infrastructure Engineers with technology solutions and enterprise design and engineering standards
- Translate business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks
- Evaluate reference models, blueprints, and playbooks for fitness for purpose
- Develop software solutions for manual, repeatable, or inefficient processes
- Conduct on-site evaluations of third-party products
- Promote an inclusive and healthy working environment and help resolve organizational blockers
- Contribute to functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 7 years’ experience with the Mainframe z/OS operating system
- LPAR experience
- Working Mainframe REXX programming experience
- Solid understanding of PIPES
- Solid experience of IBM System Automation ZOS
- Mainframe z/OS, JCL, TSO, and ISPF knowledge
- Deep knowledge of IBM Utilities, including IEBCOPY and IEBGENER
- Configuration, maintenance, and support experience with IBM System Automation for ZOS and GDPS-CA technology
- Complex understanding of REXX programming and Pipes Programming
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables with various time and date deliveries
- Ability to write and maintain documentation
- Ability to work closely with clients to automate processes and solve client issues
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to interface with system programmers, application developers, support teams, software vendors, and management staff
- Ability to provide technical leadership and work with minimum to no supervision
- Ability to develop technical solution requirements and lead individual or small-team initiatives
- Must be available for after-hours support and some weekend and holiday hours
- Must participate in on-call support
