About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support secure Java-based features and services
- Translate product, business, security, and operational requirements into maintainable solution designs
- Design and implement REST APIs and microservices using Java and Spring
- Apply secure coding practices and remediate vulnerabilities and CVEs
- Manage reliability, maintainability, performance, and technical debt
- Participate in work breakdown, estimation, technical design reviews, code reviews, testing strategy, release planning, and delivery execution
- Provide technical leadership for platform upgrades, capability deployments, and production-readiness activities
- Investigate production issues, coordinate technical response, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions
- Support technology controls, compliance activities, evidence collection, and audit requests
- Mentor engineers and identify skill, role, or delivery risks with the Technology Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including delivery of large-scale Java applications across multiple implementations
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture
- Expertise in object-oriented design, design and architectural patterns, clean code, automated testing, and code quality practices
- Experience with relational databases, SQL, stored procedures, and Oracle database replication or performance tuning
- Experience developing and operating applications in Unix or Linux environments
- Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized platforms
- Experience with CI/CD and tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible
- Experience with cloud services and cloud security principles
- Knowledge of application security vulnerability remediation, secure software development practices, and CVE management
- Ability to lead complex technical work and make sound engineering decisions
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written communication, and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (desired)
- Working knowledge of digital credentials, mobile driver licenses, and digital wallet ecosystems (desired)
- Experience integrating generative AI or large language models into Java applications, including MCP, prompt design, context management, and vector databases (desired)
- Experience with IAM platforms such as PingOne, PingFederate, HYPR, Okta, or ForgeRock (desired)
- Experience with React or a comparable modern UI framework (desired)
- Exposure to mobile application development and mobile security (desired)
