About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct quantitative analytics and complex modeling projects for specific business units or risk types
- Lead development of new models, analytic processes, and system approaches
- Create technical documentation for related activities
- Work with Technology staff to design systems for running developed models
- Conduct end-to-end market risk stress testing, including scenario design, implementation, results consolidation, reporting, and analysis
- Lead planning for quantitative work priorities aligned with the bank’s strategy
- Identify continuous improvements through model development and validation reviews, documentation feedback, and effective challenges
- Oversee model development and model risk management in assigned focus areas
- Provide methodological, analytical, and technical guidance to challenge and influence development and validation projects
- Communicate submission and validation outcomes to model stakeholders and senior management
- Perform statistical analysis on large datasets and interpret results using qualitative and quantitative approaches
- Shape the bank’s macroeconomic outlook, scenario design, and economic risk assessments
- Lead design, review, and approval of enterprise-wide macroeconomic projections and stress scenarios covering 1,800+ variables
- Support regulatory and internal use cases including CCAR, CECL, IFRS 9, and internal forecasting
- Assess emerging macroeconomic, geopolitical, and financial market risks and implications for capital adequacy, credit risk, liquidity, and earnings
- Develop forward-looking economic analyses for enterprise risk identification, corporate planning, and stress testing
- Provide thought leadership through executive presentations, written briefings, and senior leadership forums
- Translate complex economic and financial concepts into decision-useful insights
- Advise executive leadership on macroeconomic trends and scenario-driven impacts
- Collaborate with economists and analysts across regions, portfolios, and risk disciplines
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to economic research and talent development
- Advance quantitative methods, data automation, and AI/ML applications
- Improve economic modeling frameworks to reflect structural changes in the economy and financial markets
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree or PhD in Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field
- 8+ years of experience in macroeconomic analysis, scenario design, or stress testing within a large financial institution, regulatory body, or economic research organization
- Expertise in regulatory stress testing and allowance frameworks, including CCAR, CECL, and IFRS 9
- Strong understanding of global macroeconomics, financial markets, and bank balance sheet dynamics
- Ability to communicate complex economic concepts effectively to senior executives and non-technical audiences
- Experience interfacing with regulators and responding to supervisory feedback
- Familiarity with model risk management frameworks and governance requirements
- Experience leveraging advanced analytics, automation, or AI-enabled tools in economic or risk analysis
